The world is opening back up and it is time to grab your camera gear and get outdoors. Whether it’s a quick drive to a nearby park or beach or an adventure to a far-off destination, taking pictures of the scenery is always some of the best photos you will take. The beautiful sunset or mountain range you witness will be a very nice picture but, by applying a few simple techniques and learning a few tricks the pros use, your landscape photos can be elevated from nice to breathtaking.

We will discuss general best practices to apply when out in the field, camera settings, simple compositional rules and thinking beyond the rule of thirds and exploring other compositional styles such as minimalism, the Golden Spiral and of course how using ND Filters can elevate your creativity and inspire you.

About the Instructor: Roger Rosales

My journey in photography started in the mid 2000’s, right around 2006. I landed my first job as a product photographer with an eCommerce cycling company and that is the job that truly opened the door for me to remain as a photographer full-time.

As time went on I tried several different types of photography and eventually I came to the realization that landscape photography is my passion. I have to go out into nature and capture God’s beautiful creation. It energizes me and is my ultimate therapy.

Fast forward to autumn 2019 when I became employed by NiSi Filters as a Technical Representative—by far the job that fits me the most as my love for landscape photography comes out naturally. I now help individuals learn how to capture images beyond a simple snapshot and teach people the creative benefits of using filters as well as helping troubleshoot some of the more technical aspects of NiSi Filters.
